Bankmill

Originally a corn mill, Bank Mill was converted at the beginning of the nineteenth century by Alexander and Duncan Cowan, to produce paper for banknotes. A papermaking machine was installed in 1847. The mill was closed in 1975. The Trust attempted to buy the dilapidated mill in 2009 but the sale fell through and it was purchased by an engineering company.
